The Colonization of Karno

After Captain Holden discovered Karno, news quickly spread across the sea to the Old Kingdoms, and a colonization fervor struck the kingdom. The newly-crowned King Bariston Stormrager III ordered more ships built, and merchants seized the opportunity to plunder a whole new continent for resources and goods. Whole armadas went over and journeyed south from the first landing spot to a bluff overlooking the sea. This massive expedition was lead by Elbert Durston, an entrepreneur from the Kingdom of Rosewater who made his fortune in the trade of barrel-making. He was well-respected and well-like by his fellow merchants, but he had a tendency to be too headstrong and reckless when it came to colonization. When he saw the bluff coming up over the horizon, he commanded that the whole armada stop and set up their settlement there. Amidst the rocky north shore, however, this proved to be a tactical error. The ships could not all dock along the north bank, and one ship was smashed in to the rocks, its crew cast to the rocks jutting up from the sea. Only through the efforts of a smuggler-turned-merchant named Davos Carwright did the ships explore the south shore past the bluff, where the ships could safely land. Davos was largely overlooked for his contribution to the settlement of Durston, as Elbert thrust forward on to land and began constructing his city.

Soon after Durston was established, the wood elves began to send scouts to the growing town, sometimes peaceful, sometimes not. Some years later the settlers came in to contact with the mud dwarves, but trade relations did not flourish with the short, ruddy-faced people, as the goods both sides had to offer were not of interest to the other party.
